Beaver Pond, south end Danville

Postby safety frog » Tue Apr 08, 2014 8:43 am

I found the beaver dam blown out just south of route 111 in Danville this weekend. the water level was just in the two old stream beds, down about six feet. All the fish hopefully made it down stream. The ducks, geese and heron that used it will be disappointed as they arrive from the south. Last time this occurred about a year ago a couple local folks were indicated in blowing with dynamite, made a 10' wide hole in the dam.

Why would someone do this? Was there flooding upstream somewhere?

Not really, been a pond for at least 30 years, no houses or roads impacted. Last time it a young guy with dynamite who had just got out of jail with nothing better to do. This time? Normally filled with ducks and a couple pair of geese this time of year.
