The way we are set up, anybody in the world can register, but they can't post until we vet them. This includes an email and a phone call.
Unfortunately, as soon as somebody registers, they can put a URL in their personal profile, and it is available to everyone. The most recent registrant is highlighted at the bottom of the page.
We have already had incidents reported where people clicked a link on one of these sites and had major file damage, or where people ran into porn.
As soon as somebody registers, an email is sent to webmaster@speakoutdanville.org. We try to check the profile and delete spam users as soon as we possibly can.
I don't want to say publicly how I discern readily (most of the time) who is a spam user and who is not. I would suggest that you not click on the user profile of anybody who has not actually posted. If somebody has posted, that means they have been vetted and allowed in. That is, except for those who signed up in our earliest days, you know who you are

If you disregard this advice and if you encounter something particularly vile, please send an email to webmaster@speakoutdanville.org, and we will make an effort to delete the user as soon as time permits.
