None of them have much of a digital footprint. I find that very disappointing. In this day and age I would like a thought leader whose thoughts, ideas and activities can be found on the Internet. Yes I know a lot of teachers are timid and extra careful about appearing on the Internet and I understand that. For a top administrator though I want someone who knows how to use the Internet to communicate.

I think it is great that the two external candidates have experience at two (or more) levels with one having worked in elementary, middle and high schools. Seems like a big plus to me.

Without knowing anything about them the one from TX would get my vote. :D

Hard to judge people from a resume but that one does look pretty good.

No one with actual experience in the Superintendent position at one or more schools applied? That seems odd that we need to hire someone to learn on the job, but may save us in salary to train them on the job?

I have only seen the three candidates you have seen. All others were either screened by NESDEC or the Screening Committee.

All other names were kept and will remain confidential.

Timberlane is a not a large school district and people generally don't look to move from being a superintendent in one district to a smaller district. That doesn't usually make sense as a career (or financial) move. So it doesn't seem that odd to me that we don't have an experienced superintendent looking to come here.

This may be, but to pay $30K to a firm to find someone for us who may need training wheels seems a bit steep. :)

FYI we are NOT paying $30K. The Board approved up to $30K but the actual bill, so far, looks to be around half that much.

NESDEC, the entity we hired for the search, also offers Superintendent training if needed.

That is nice to hear, but do we want someone learning on the job?

What does such training cost?
