Seizure at firing range triggers dispute

The seizure of firearms from a Manchester firing range Wednesday in a domestic-violence case filed by a New Boston woman has prompted lawyers to take aim on both sides.

New Boston Police Chief Christopher L. Krajenka seized nine guns from the Manchester Firing Line Range where they were for sale on a consignment basis by Michael Murphy of New Boston.

Earlier Wednesday, a judge had signed a domestic-violence temporary order of protection against Murphy requiring him to immediately relinquish all of his weapons and stop "further acts of abuse or threats of abuse" against his estranged wife, Paula Murphy. The order also required Michael Murphy to immediately return his youngest child to his wife, and to have no contact with her or their two children pending a hearing on custody............

Apparently this isn't the first big public issue this chief has faced.

Just based on the comments in the Union Leader it doesn't seen as if many New Boston residents stepping up to defend their chief. Apparently, they'd been picketing and circulating a petition for his dismissal before this happened. I could be wrong, but I assume the position is elected and the residents could simply not vote for him.

I found mention that New Boston PD is requiring additional information on Pistol and Revolver applications. A quick check of the New Hampshire Firearms Coalition's website shows they are aware of the issue.

When NHFC learned of this apparent abuse of power we looked at the web site for the New Boston Police Department and learned that the Chief has illegally modified the form of application for a New Hampshire Pistol / Revolver license, is requiring phone numbers for references and prohibiting the use of family members as references. These are all prohibited by the plain language of R.S.A. 159:6.

NHFC members may wish to contact the New Boston Board of Selectmen and ask why they are allowing the Chief of Police to violate the law.

Remember to be polite and respectful if you contact the Selectmen to complain about the behavior of their appointed Chief of Police.

Very few police chiefs in NH are elected any more. It's down to Danville, Sandown, and one or two other towns.

In front of town hall, a call for chief's ouster

NEW BOSTON – Calls for the ouster of New Boston Police Chief Christopher L. Krajenka grew louder yesterday, with more than a dozen protesters gathering in front of town hall.

Waving signs that read "Not Temperamentally Suited to Be a Police Chief!" and "Stop Krajenka's Abuse of Authority," protesters recited a list of complaints against Krajenka and his style of policing.

"He's belligerent, he's arrogant, he operates with a Napoleonic complex. He's a bully," said New Boston resident Leo Joy. "We're not a bunch of idiots who have suffered from traffic stops and stuff like that."

James Cook, owner of Tates Gallery, said his first interaction with Krajenka came during a dispute over parking in front of his shop.

"I went out to shake his hand and introduce myself and he wouldn't shake my hand," Cook said. "He treated me like a criminal."

The protest was the latest step in a petition drive to remove Krajenka that began in early January. Petitioners had gathered roughly 40 signatures from New Boston residents by the end of last week.

After yesterday's rally, 129 residents had signed the petition.....

Very happy we have Chief Parsons here in Danville.

ImageBut what frustrates the American people is a Washington where every day is Election Day. We can't wage a perpetual campaign where the only goal is to see who can get the most embarrassing headlines about the other side -- a belief that if you lose, I win. Neither party should delay or obstruct every single bill just because they can.

If this is correct it goes way deeper. If these accusations are real it is quite disturbing and should be of concern to ALL the citizens of NH.
