On March 20, 2003 the United States preemptively invaded the sovereign nation of Iraq.

There have been 4,202 coalition deaths -- 3,896 Americans...in the war in Iraq as of December 18, 2007, according to a CNN count. At least 28,711 U.S. troops have been wounded in action, according to the Pentagon.

There have been over 650,000+ Iraqis reported dead because of this war since its inception.
